How to start with baby steps
I know that work can sometimes bring on mental stress, leaving us drained and overwhelmed. But here's the thing – making fitness a priority during those tough days can actually help alleviate stress and boost your overall well-being! 🏋️♀️🧘♂️
Here are a few tips to help you weave fitness into your busy work life, even when stress is knocking at your door:
1. **Micro Workouts:** Don't have an hour to spare? No problem! Sneak in short, effective workouts first thing in the morning. A quick 10-minute walk, a few stretches, or try my mini workout i do in my body shaper.
10 jumping jacks
10 squats
10 bicep curls
10 lateral press
10 shoulder press
10 lunges on each leg
10 tricep kick backs
10 sit ups
Repeat if you have more time
2. **Schedule it:** Just like work meetings, schedule your workouts too. Block out time on your calendar for exercise, and treat it as a non-negotiable appointment with yourself. For me that’s either 5 am, 9 am & 7 pm
3. **Mindful Breaks:** Instead of scrolling through your phone during breaks, use that time for a mini workout or a brisk walk. Not only will you get your blood flowing, but it can also boost your productivity afterward.
4. **Choose What You Enjoy:** Find an activity you genuinely enjoy. It could be dancing, cycling, yoga, or even gardening. When it's something you love, it won't feel like a chore.
5. **Team Up:** Grab a colleague or a friend for a workout session. Not only does it make exercise more enjoyable, but you'll also hold each other accountable.
6. **Practice Stress-Busting Workouts:** Opt for workouts that focus on reducing stress, like yoga, meditation, or tai chi. That’s easier said than done & a google suggestion. If you ask me I always opt for lifting weights or doing HIIT to reduce stress. I’m not very good at calming my mind. But we’re all different. You have to try all to see what works for you.
7. **Set Realistic Goals:** On stressful days, it's okay to adjust your workout intensity. Aim for a lighter session or a relaxing stretch routine – the key is to keep moving.
Remember, taking care of your physical health can greatly impact your mental well-being, especially during demanding work periods. So, next time stress creeps in, embrace the opportunity to sweat it out and boost your mood! 💪🧠
